COASTAL SEARCH AND RESCUE SINCE 1864

Support - Get Involved

The Brigade is funded entirely by fundraising, donations and grants.

With annual costs of around £30,000…

Our principal expenses cover all kit for the rescue team including personal protective equipment, insurance (both for our Rescue Team and Watch House), and general costs associated with the upkeep of our Watch House estate which includes buildings dating back to the 19th century.

Our next public fundraising event will be the King Eddies Stairs Challenge on Saturday 17th June. Do as many or as few laps as you like – all are welcome, including children! Come along for this event that’s growing in popularity year on year

Our Committee of Directors have set out a desire to complete restoration work to the Brigade Cottage and CRE (where we keep our rescue vehicle) in the next few years, while also adding a new exhibition area at the entrance to the museum. Long-term goals include fundraising for a new rescue vehicle, anticipated to be required by 2030, and looking to establish a 2nd rescue base in the Cullercoats/Whitley Bay area, allowing a more efficient response to incidents in this area and to the north.

With everyone at TVLB being a volunteer 100% of any donation is invested directly where it is needed the most

Other ways to get involved

There are a number of other ways to help fundraise, including participating in the Great North Run, organising a bake sale or organising your own event. Please contact us by email for more details enquiries@tvlb.org

Charity boxes in local shops, restaurants and bars are also a fantastic source of regular income for the brigade – raising several thousand pounds each year over the past two decades. If you would like to have a box in your business, ideally based in the North Tyneside area, please contact us via enquiries@tvlb.org

If you would like to consider leaving a bequest in your will to the brigade, and require any help or information on how to do this, please contact us at enquiries@tvlb.org
