Honorary Members are essential to the work and efforts of the TVLB by enhancing our profile within the local area and providing vital consistent financial support. As a registered charity that is not part of the government-funded Coastguard Rescue Service, or the RNLI, the Brigade is totally funded by voluntary donations from the public, through donations, bequests, sponsored events and, very importantly, through Honorary Membership.
Annual donations from Honorary Members provide a secure funding route and help future-plan the Brigade’s expenditure. All funds raised are spent on the Brigade’s activities as no member receives any payment for their work and we are an entirely voluntary organisation. It costs in the region of £30,000 a year to keep our Rescue team fully equipped and operational, and to maintain our free-to-visit Watch House Museum.
By joining as an Honorary Member we ask that you make a minimum annual donation of £20 (this can be made as a monthly donation via our JustGiving payment option – see below link for more information). We also invite you to opt in to receive regular e-mails about the work of the TVLB and invitations to our fundraising events. While also contributing towards the ongoing operation of the Brigade, your money will allow us to deliver on long-term projects such as planning for the replacement of our Rescue Vehicle.
We would be delighted if you would join as an Honorary Member.
